Nashville’s grasskingdoms is easily one of the more prolific artists we have in music right now. With over 60 singles under his belt, you cannot force grasskingdoms into a box, from party tracks to dancing cuts, from LSD laced instrumentals to somber tracks that will have you questioning your existence, grasskingdoms has sounds for every mood. His work ethic and musical knowledge is always on display through his entire discography. Over the course of the last couple years, grasskingdoms has brought singing and songwriting to the table adding yet another dimension to his already unique and diverse output. As we head deeper into 2020, grasskingdoms isn’t slowing down with more singles on the way.
grasskingdoms journey into music began before he ever made a beat or before he grabbed an instrument. At a young age, grasskingdoms was writing and making new lyrics and songs out of what he heard on the radio. It was only destiny then when he picked up the guitar at 14, joined a metal band and started creating his own music. “I was really into metal and hard rock so the guitar just seemed like an extension for myself.” grasskingdom recalls. During this time, grasskingdoms is experimenting with all kinds of sounds, different genres and even slid over to playing the keyboard and piano. His eclectic taste and willingness to study the greats before him would be the pillar grasskingdoms stood on as he became a solo artist.
“I’m inspired by all legends,” grasskingdoms says, “David Bowie, Prince, Daft Punk, Pink Floyd and everyone in between. This statement holds more weight when you realize, grasskingdoms’ output is out of this world and each production taps into a new feeling every time. “Catchy upbeat disco inspired synth pop music with the occasional rnb track or ballad.” is how grasskingdoms explains his music. All of this came to a head in 2017 when he released his debut album “Atlas (To the Stars)”. While an instrumental album on the surface grasskingdoms reveals that the album is “conceptually revolved around an LSD trip”. “Atlas” captures all the ebbs and flows, the extraordinary highs and sinking lows involved during a trip. The roller coaster ride he takes the listener on fits perfectly with the plethora of singles grasskingdoms has released over his tenure.
Last year may have been a difficult year for our hero but through perseverance grasskingdoms found his music featured on “Your Moms House” podcast and the rest is history. It doesn’t end there though for grasskingdoms, as the Nashville artist is stepping out, writing and performing vocals. “I felt like I wanted to present myself more as an artist than a producer,” grasskingdoms says. His project “Letters from the Lockdown” is a full blown step in that direction as we get to hear the inner workings of grasskingdoms. The project taps into the humor but also the dark side of the isolation many are dealing with in 2020. From the jump grasskingdoms has shown he’s here to stay and here to create. With hundreds of thousands of plays across a myriad of media, grasskingdoms has more on deck for the beginning of the decade. “I’m hoping to keep that momentum going and continue posting good music and funny videos for people to watch and share.”
